Rubicon trail, located in Sierra Nevada, is a must do for true lovers of adventure driving. 22 miles of rocky terrain, part road and part rail, steep drop offs and sharp turns of the Rubicon are meant only for strong willed. Drive down around 80 miles from Sacramento to the trail, west of Lake Tahoe to reach the trail. Make sure you take a sturdy vehicle with a strong wheel base. If you are venturing the trail for the first time, go along with someone who knows the route well. It can take you two to three days to complete the trail.
